ftp services by the forum/cms apps can be causing various problems.
You can use the ftp client program to upload files to your account, and proceed with the setup process, its the best way to do this. In case you found permission problem, you can change the file folder permission to allow writting.

FatCow causes me a few problems. The main thing is I’m not able to upload because FTP is not acceptable through the SMF software. Get permissions issues even after permissions are corrected.
